Integrated Approach to Web Performance Testing: A Practitioner's Guide
The performance testing of Web applications is not understood properly and no skill sets are available to address the challenges faced by practitioners. In addition, there is currently a lack of available research on the performance aspects of the application.
Integrated Approach to Web Performance Testing: A Practitioner's Guide fills a void and provides an integrated approach and guidelines to performance testing of Web-based systems. Based upon a mix of theoretical and practical concepts, this book provides a detailed understanding of the various aspects of performance testing in relation to the different phases of the software development life cycle. Using a rich mixture of examples, checklists, and templates, this book illustrates the different facets of application performance. It applies a practical approach to making appropriate choices of tools, methodologies and project management for performance testing.

If you have a slow site after reading Dr. Subraya's Integrated Approach to Web Performance Testing, it is because: 1) you chose to have a slow site or 2) you were too lazy to read the book from beginning to end and just kind of "surfed" through it.
Integrated Approach is divided into ten power-packed chapters that take the reader, whether a novice to performance testing or a "glossy" power tester, through every nook and cranny in testing.
I am certain this book will be around for a long time, and may become one of the standards of web performance testing. In just a few chapters, I was already beginning to see ways to make our Web testing efforts better and more efficient. I incorporated areas from test definition, test design, test build, and more importantly test execution into our processes. Developing a workload had been a complicated concept but after reading Dr. Subraya's information, it was truly an "A-ha!" moment.
His writing is both clear and concise. His definitions are "spot-on", and he explains his topics quickly and to the point without rambling. With his writing style and crispness, I can comfortably advise beginners and experienced pros to read this book, cover-to-cover. The "newbies" will definitely learn and the graybeards can refresh things they might have forgotten.
I have already told several of my performance engineers and a couple of performance test team people about this book, and I will continue to recommend it to others in our IT arena. I highly recommend it to all performance people, whether in testing or engineering.
